whats the best i could expect out of this engine with just a little work?

i am told i have a 9 inch rear end, and a c4 tranny, what can i do with this? should i have a hope of ever burning tires?

it's a 68 fairlane 2 door btw

whats the single best performance upgrade? what kinda hp does it bring?

has anyone ever done fuel injection / turbo on one of these old blocks? i imagine it would make crazy power

That's a pretty loaded question, and is going to recieve more questions than answers.

First, crazy power isn't a part of these engines, but you can make decent expecially for the weight of the cars, if you do have a 9" that is a good starting point. I'd verify that. Welcome to the addiction, these engines are a blast to work on, and it's great when you can make decent power and watch people's jaws drop when you open the hood.

second: Buy the falcon performance handbook, search the forum and you'll find plenty of links. It's cheap, but has a weath of information on what these engines can do and where to start with little or no money.

three: read read read. Just search the site or browse for topics that intrest you and you'll learn more than you ever thought about these engines on this site.

Four: if you want turbo or efi info, head to that section of the forum. THere are a couple good sticky's there.

Webber 36/38 and header. Just put the motor in my son's 64 falcon sedan. Stock other than that. Runs great. Sounds cool too. Dual exhaust out the back. I am thinking about a cam upgrade. May also look at higher ratio rockers. Anyone used high ratio rockers???? Seems like there is no down side.
