200 cu. inline 6 value?

What's the going price for a decent running 200 cu. straight 6? I have one I want to sell, but I have no idea what they're worth.

unless you've done some decent upgrades, or a fresh rebuild on it, i wouldn't expect to get anything out of it, people that actually want the 200 are pretty rare, and you have V8 guys removing them to install a V8
you might be able to sell it to someone on here, but i wouldn't expect more than what Brad said

8) i sold a 250 to does10s for $100. it came from a running car only because the guy swapped for a V8. i paid $100 for that same engine. for a builder or used 200 i probably wouldnt pay more than that. if the engine has been rebuilt, then i would pay more, perhaps $300-500, but it had best be low miles on the rebuild, and the guy needs receipts proving it was rebuilt for me to pay that much.

I believe it's a '66 (I looked up the numbers last year). My car is a '61 Comet, so this obviously isn't the original motor.
I also have a 2-speed tranny and the original rear end. I'll ask $100 for the motor, and throw in the transmission and rear end for free. ;) The entire drivetrain is still in the car. So if anyone wants to see/hear it running, I can post a video on YouTube.....just let me know. I'm putting an 8" rear in the Comet and a T5 (don't have the motor yet, but I do have one lined up and waiting for me).

Ready to run I would say about $300 on the high side. Only way it would be worth more is if it had documents that proved it was recently rebuilt. More typical I see them for sale around $100 or BO. Those can be nice clean recently pulled or been sitting under a tarp for years.

I had a guy just drop off a 200; literally! :hmmm:
I came home from work....and there's an engine in our driveway!

He just knew that we worked on Sixes and thought we needed it!

My point is that most people don't value the Inline 6 much. So the price will reflect that.

Will

I think location may affect that as well?Around here classic Fords are few and far between. The ones that are around are either v8's or become that soon after,So the 6 cyl engines basically get thrown out.
