I tried to start my car this morning and when it started the starter kept turning with the engine, plus when I turned the ignition off, the starter kept turning over. Has anyone ever had this problem much less what route to go about fixing it.

8) well first the starter solenoid needs replacing. as for the no start, check the points, fuel flow(for too much or too little), ignition timing, plugs, plug wires.

I had the exact same problem.I kept trying to turn the engine over and at one point when I turned the ignition off,it was like I was still trying to turn it over.I just pulled the battery cable off to stop it and replaced the solenoid. It worked fine after that.

That sort of thing happens when you are cranking on the motor for too long. The voltage going through the solenoid is strong enough to arc weld the plunger. It doesn't happen too often on new solenoids, but thew older ones become pitted and after a while they begin to arc weld in side there. It's kind of scarry when it happens, because you can no longer control the starter.

Replacce the solenoid ASAP!
