All Small Six 200 headers for 250??

This relates to all small sixes

Is is possible to use all 200 headers on a 250 head? Some headers on the market specify that they fit 170, 200 and 250. Others only mention 170 and 200. I am confused.

Technically a 250 head is exactly the same as a 200 head in everyway, what is not always the same is the short blocks deck height. All the 144, 170, and 200’s small sixes will have the same deck height a 250 block is much taller there in is the problem with them fitting on a 250 six engine.

That said yes all the Headers made for the 144, 170, & 200’s will also bolt right onto a 250 head, what might not work in all cases is the length of the header tubes being right for a correct fit on a 250 shirt block application. Mike (in Lavrons Budget 250 Build) was able to yse a set of the stainless 200 six headers on his 1964 Comet 250 Six Swap by making some aluminum spacer plates to fit the 200 headers into the Comet Chassis so if your willing to do some fabrication it just might work for you. Best of luck

... interference with the larger bellhouse and low starter is main problem with the 200 headers. Mike (lavrons 250) tipped headers away from block and bellhouse with fabbed spacers (y).

250 with headers and set of 200 headers (Hooker dual long tube 6602's and 6601's):
