I am part lazy part stupid, but I am not all that familiar with searching the site for the info I need and I am way busy finishing my 289 powered 63 Falcon Hardtop to try and learn now so please forgive me.

I am planning to install a 200 inch 6 from a 66 Fairlane into my 63 Ford Econoline Pickup. The engine is fresh(longblock)and stock and I plan no internal mods.

I would like to go with a tubular header and do something with the carb(something simple)and distributer.

I much prefer new over rebuilt and I am not looking for great improvements in performance. I will be sticking with the stock drivetrain(3 spped manual)and just want a smooth reliable little truck(that can climb a hill).

Cost is not all that important I am already in the ball park of reasonable just by laying out a nearly stock initial design so I can afford to do the details right.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks a bunch, Swifty

Swifty,
Hey we've got a Econo Truck too!
Although it doesn't have a motor or tranny in it! So my advice is very limited currently on the Econo's. (But it'll pick up shortly! )
Anyway....after looking at the ROOM in the undercarriage of our truck, I would think that just about any header would work!
Check out http://www.classicinlines.com for some headers and I'm sure that Mike can hook you up! I'm sure the dual out style header would fit!

Will

Hi Swifty, I've got two econoline pickups, one with a 200 cu in and one with a 240 engine. The 200 had a 1969 engine in it when I bought it, with a bigger intake hole (1 3/4").

A saw a completer Clifford rebuild on a 170 in one of these trucks. Everything fit quite nice and was giving 17 mpg.

Most of the things you can do to the other car small sixes will work for your truck. Clifford has some of the parts--their shorty exhaust for the early bronco bolts right in and will give you a dual exhaust.

The main thing with these engines is to upgrade the "breathing" (better carburetion and exhaust) and the ignition. The Duraspark conversion is very popular. I dropped one into my 200 and it really helped with idle smoothness and peformance.

Keep posting, we can get more specific on anything.

John
