200 or 250 stroker?

has anyone looked into this for these engines?

I am building a Jeep stroker out of a Jeep 4.0 and 4.2 engine. I am going to be using the crank and piston rods from the 4.2 (258) and put them in the newer 4.0 and making a 4.5 or even 4.7 if I get the cylinders bored.

can we do something like that for the ford 200 or 250?

Mike (AzCoupe) was working on a 273 stroker, don't know if he ever finished. The 200 can be offset ground a bit, but you only end up with 205 ci or so. The camshaft is already notched to provide clearance for the crank, not much more can be had.

Anecdotally, the 250 is a stroked 200.

Additional block deck height /stroke difference within the same bore size adds displacement to the 200 creating the 250's torque-heavy dyno results.

The mystery-built Clifford 250 engine was found to use AMC 258 pistons for altered compression height. The additional full deck height/volume and Deep dished pistons controls CR and adds displacement.:

It is not considered practical to stroke the 200 because the connecting rods are already up against the cam to the point that the camshaft is notched to clear the connecting rod bolts.

But I was looking at Cunningham Rods and they make rods with the rod bolts rotated to clear tight areas. I was thinking that rotated rod design with a small rod journal such as a Honda 1.889" rod journal might yield some benefits.

That would be a awfully large chunk of cash for minimal gain. For alot less money you could probably get Mike to import a complete Aussie 221 inline six.

BTW, I had no idea a black tri carb inline six could look so sexy.

I do have to agree on how great that thing looks, no i just wish you would give us a video of the darned thing runnin instead of showing it off to everybody in pics :P.

PS to powerband thanks for the info on the crossmember the T5 is in and should be drivin again soon :).
