ok i havent been able to drive my car in about 6 months due to a carb problem im having. Ive decided to go with a rebuilt holley carb from autozone and while im at it i want to redo all of my gaskets and seals on the engine and upgrade the cooling system since im gonna start using the stang to make 2 hour long trips at a time. i wanna know the best ways to keep it cool and more dependable for work and for my weekend fun.i would really like to change out my linkage while im at it since my old linkage is torn up. Im thinking of going with a cable linkage. any i deas how to do this would be great.

thanks for any reply's

Jose
P.S its a 200 with a autolite carb on it now and a c4 tranny.

how much are you paying for your rebuilt holley?

i will let other s who have done the cable throttle tell you how

my 68 has dual MC...so prolly on the 67

Jose,
I have been through cooling problems that I finally solved after a lot of help from the guys in these forums.

I agree with Slade. Here are my suggestions.

First, make sure your water pump is in top shape. If not, it is an easy change with your radiator out. Next, get a bottom radiator hose that has a wire in it to make sure it does not close down under pressure. I put one on the bottom and top as well. These hoses are cheap and by getting the ones with wires you eliminate one potential problem. I also found out that not all thermostats are created equal. I bought a "heavy duty" one for a couple extra dollars and make sure it is installed in the correct direction (I found this out the hard way).

I put in a four row radiator, and that required me to find a very small fan spacer. I ordered that at the auto parts store after several stores assured me that it did not exist. I also put in a six blade fan that was for a car with A/C. It increased the air moving through that radiator a great deal. I would recommend using "water wetter". IMHO, it can't hurt. Also, check that your belts are adjusted properly.

Finally, don't forget to address why your car might be running warmer then it should. We are not doing ouselves any favors by covering up another problem by increasing cooling. Advanced timing and carb issues could be an issue here.

Also, seems like lots of guys are using electric fans, and eliminating their original fan completely. This seems to make a lot of sense to me and will be my next upgrade. Hope that helps. Good luck!

ok thanks for all in the info with the cooling system. another issue i want to deal with is the carb. i want to redo everything with the carb since my last one wasnt even installed correctly. What would i need to buy to get the choke and all of the vacuum and such working correctly.
