Hi

I’m in Aus and trying to find a flywheel for a 221.
Seems impossible at this point.
Will anything else fit or am I stuck with Gumtree and a whole lot of hoping?
Cheers all.

This part of the forum is mostly US people and Most would not know what fits a 221. Try in the Aussie part of Ford six.

If your looking for a manual trans flywheel sorry to say, later ones dont fit, you will have to keep searching. the problem is the crankshaft flange. Later 200-250 is the same flange as the small block v8. You could have a steel one made, its would be reasonably simple with a lathe and milling machine with a rotary table, but you would need sketch at least. I wouldnt attempt to re-drill a 250 one.

I’ll have to check on the teeth count.
It could be 157 or 164.
Do US 200 flywheels have the smaller crank flange and bolt spacing.
Happy to get one shipped over if it fits.

Hi
I can only go by a post on this forum, I don’t have the original.
160 teeth, clutch disc 9.125”
Bolt spacing at 2.75” and a 3.3” flange.
Cheers.
Clutch on 221 in XY and XW is a 9.5 inch diaphragm type, as far as I know ring gear is the same as the 250, the pcd of bolts might be 2.75 inch (ive never measured) one bolt is offset, I doubt anything USA will fit. The twin plate clutch from the 351 will bolt on, but isnt neccesay unless your supercharged.

US 200 is 136 tooth and 9'' long clutch with 2.75 bolt spacing, so no good for you.
But Modern driveline has a 157 tooth 2.75'' bolt spacing billet flywheel that may work. look them up. You could probably have one made where you live cheaper.

Maybe the 250 stays or forget original and go alloy head crossflow.
Plans change.
Thanks all.
Ive got a crossflow in my XP, they fit easily and a 250 alloy head with the Weber carb has pretty much the torque of the 250-2v, just about that of a 302-2v. Flywheels clutches etc are easy to find. I run a single rail 4 speed and BW78 rear end. This all works well. If your concerned for VSB14 compliance you could use the 200 crossflow. You've probably seen my car by now, but if your interesting in seeing more just ask. Im in Gippsland, if that helps.
