223 engine swap

Looking for info. I just bought a 1957 f100 that has a locked up 223 engine. I'd like to install a good 223 engine I have out of my 1955 f100 but the front engine mounts are different and the 55 223 don't have holes in the block where the 57s front mounts are. Anyone ever swap to a older 223 before and come up with solution? I only paid $800 for the truck. Only reason I want to just swap the good engine I have in it. Any information to point me in right direction would be great. Thanks

Tried attaching photos to show the 57 has to mounts on front on both sides and the 55 has one mount on the front. Not sure if they will upload or not.

Could you take some pictures show the full engine side of each engine. Also which mounts do you need for the 1957 F100?
 
I need the 1957 mounts and it mounts on side of block. The 1955 223 don't have the bolt holes for it cast into block it mounts on front of timing chain cover.

In these pictures the first Is the 1957 223 showing how it's mounted to side of the block and second picture is the 1955 223 showing there are no bolt holes. Was just seeing if anyone had a way around it.

Interesting I had a 1956 F100 for many years my dad had bought it new, it had those same mounts as your 1955. I did bolt a newer 1958 or 1959 223 six into that old 1956 was no problem. The 1953 to 1956 all used the same basic chassis, those 1957 F100's are realy nice looking trucks but have a totally redesigned chassis in them. I also had a 1958 truck years later no engine or mounts though so never noticed that differance chassis was bend up bad from a wreck and was trying to find another to replace it ended up trading it off for something else. Looks like you can't do that change over with your 1955 engine without making up a front frame motor mount like the 1955 I would be surprised if you had a 1953 to 1956 front crossmember if you could bolt or weld that into the 1957 chassis with very little work. Other than that looks like you need a 1957 to 1964 223 car or pick up short block do you think you could get that 1957 engine freed up? Start soaking it in Diesel or Kerosene. if you want to be able to just bolt it in another engine look for a 1957 to 1964 223 or 262. Hang on to the 1957 head they are much better than the 1954 to 1956 heads. Best of luck
 
It looks like you could make mounts for the 55 that bolt on the front, but wrap around to the side. Possibly even cut and weld the mounts from both engines together. Do the mounts on the 55 line up if you put it on backwards, so the bend goes rearward instead of frontward?
 
I looked at the pictures again, and see it wouldn't bolt on backwards, unless you cut out the flange, just using the angled piece that bolts to the front. Then use the side mounting ones, and either try to drill holes to bolt them to those reversed front mount pieces, or cut and weld them together. Or build a new mount from scratch, that wouldn't be to hard either. You have both style mounts for templates, you should be able to fab a conversion mount
 
You're better off finding a way to get that 57 engine working again instead of doing modifications to make the 55 223 six fit. You're dealing with unknown safety issues in the event of a front end collision. Hopefully, you can salvage the frozen 223 engine and get it to purr.
