I have been trying to find a source for some new valve adjusters
for my 223.
I belive when made the thread is of a locking type.Over time they don't
hold thier position well, shifting with use.
Does anyone know of a source for these parts?
If I don't find some soon I am going to start manufacturing them here
in my aircraft/aerospace machine shop.
Anyone else have the same headache?

i just bought some for my motor. I will find out who makes them and get back to you tomorrow.

Chips - is your motor equiped with the adjusting screw / jam nut system or the interferance thread adjusting system (is there a lock nut for the adjusters)? I think Ford made the switch in '55 or '56, but I am not sure.

My adjusters have the friction (interference) type thread.
I am now considering to use lock (jam) nuts to help
keep things stable.

Thank You,

mine are the stock interferance type of threads. just from a cursory glance it seems that adding a nylock nut or even a standard locking(read jam nut) nut would take care of 99% of the "self (un)adjusting" troubles on these racks.

I worked hard and found a good source for standard size
and .003 oversized replacement units.
Adding a jam nut is what ford did later (standard thread of course)
This does add mass to the rocking assembly, (the likely reason the unit
is hollow),A person would just have to sit down and reason it out.
My gut feeling is that only in the case of very high performance
engines,unlimited class,would there be a concern.
In the case of my 1956 223 it would not amount to anything, except
the jam nut is a better way secure the adjuster.

I found them at DSC Motorsports (951)698-8868

Tell them if you want the standard or oversize.

$28.00 a set for a v8 ...$2.00 ea. otherwise.

"Be Sure To Check Hardness Of The Adjusters!!! (the ball) "

There was a batch resently that was too soft !!!
They were cad plated (silver in color) But check all before install.
