223 oil pump interchange

i recently got a 223 complete out of a 54 PU... the dizzy and oil pump have the hex drive. the ones on my 54 passenger have the sloted drive.

question is, are the pump and dizzy interchanable between the passenger and truck blocks or are they block specific?

i'm going to bump this up again... are all years 223 oil pumps interchangable IF the distributor is also changed out to match the pump drive?

I didn't know that there were 2 types of oil pump drives for the 223 (215 as well). I thought that all ford I6s had the hex drive? Interesting.

I dont know about 215 all 223s use a 1/4 in. hex drive untel 1964 they use a 5/16 hex drive

If they have the same oil pan, then they will probably interchange.

yea, i have a 223 for sure, been lookin at it for almost 5 years now... front dist. the one in question is a 54 block, i also have a 55 truck block that had the hex drive pump

odd that no one else has seen a sloted drive pump or distributor before... the blocks are the same from what i can tell here, so i'm going with the assumption that the pumps and dist will interchange... i also have a couple core distributors here that are about 50/50 sloted and hex...

we'll see when i tear down the 54 block, i'll know if it'll be able to accept the hex pump housing from the truck block
