Hi All,

Got a problem that someone may be able to help me with or make a suggestion on. I have just installed new standard rockers on my alloy head 250, and ran the car for about 15 minutes to let the oil bleed the lifters and to rise upto the rockers etc. The problem is that some still have play in them, sideways motion. Anyone got any suggestions, I was thinking would longer rods do anything to help?

There may not be anything wrong at all. some movment side to side is normal. The rocker tip doesent get close to coming off the edge of the valve does it? I hope no part of the rocker touches the retainer or locks at any time.

Hi,

Is the rocker gear noisy when the engine is running? If no, then don't worry.

I had the same problem with my engine - very noisy/loose rockers. The solution is to remove and grind the base of the standoff that the rocker sits on. (someone must know the technical name for it!!) . You only need to remove a small amount of metal. This lowers the rocker thus reducing the slack.

Good luck
