will a 250 fit in a 66 mustang? what would be a good tranny for something that will be a DD. I will also be putting in a Granada disk brake setup and rear end.

Did it over thirty years ago in my 65 without knowing the problems I would encounter. Didn't have this new fangled thing called the internet to ask questions.

Engine is taller, so aircleaner clearance is tight. You will have to go with a low profile aftermarket, or one from an early Maverick with the 250. Engine is longer because of the waterpump, so watch the clearance with the radiator. The engine has the same bellhousing as the V8, so you can go with a 4 speed transmission, but a T5 would be the best transmission to go with.

If your Mustang already has a standard, the Z-bar (clutch pivot) for the clutch may be too wide, a V8 may work. You'll have to change the yoke and front u-joint on the driveshaft if you still have the 7.25 rear axle. An 8-inch rear end would be a better choice with the 250, the 7.25 will not hold up to the torque if you like spinning the tires.

You'll have to redo the exhaust because the 250 has the low mounted starter, unless you have a late model 200, which has the same layout.

That's all I can think of right now, memory is the first thing to go as you get older. I think.

Good luck
