250 in xm

hi, i have put a 250 in an xm ute it squeezed in there ok exept i had to turn the 350 holley backwards cos of linkages, my problems are that the bottom pulleys are really close to the radiator (so no room for fan) so i have thermos on the outside but id prefer them to be inside, anyone else had this problem? also the motor came out of an xd so the extactors dont fit well, i was wondering if anyone knew someone who did them for a decent price prefrebly in S.A CHEERS!

There are headers around for about 180 to 225 bucks Australian that will do the job. So they aren't "reasonable dollars". My mate Richard, with an EFI TE Cortina 4.1, had to get some TE/TF Cortina ones sent over the ditch, and it cost 'em 550 NZ dollars all up to fit, for an $A225 dollar set .

The front pulley is the whole reason people do Windsors and non cross-flow 188/200's swaps. Apparently, even a 221 is fairly close with the water pump. You need to check some of the supercharged 250 x-flow Falcons at this link.

There are a few issues with how you go about it, but you'll get there. My mate has an XM with a 351 Windy and 5-speed Supra box in it. There is space galore if you want it to fit. Like they say. If it just fits, it fits!

my xr falcon runs a 250crossflow .i have fitted a xf falcon radiator .This radiator just fits between the chassis rails with about 3mm on either side.
This rad is about an 2" thinner than the old rad i took out .Im now fitting twin 12" electric fans on the inside.

My XM sedan runs a 250 crossflow and it is a tight sueeze to get it in.
I am sure that a V8 would have been easier.
The engine runs the early water pump, i.e. down flow motor without the clutch fan. Just couldnt get the radiator far enough forward.
The radiator support had already had the sides cut out to fit a downflow 250 before I fitted the crossflow.
Also fitted the earlier single row harmonic balancer to clear the radiator lower tank.
I am running a manifold at present and am happy with that for now. The XD extractors/headers hit on the engine bay/shock towers.

I was arsing about a while back (when painting the XP 'bay) and tried slipping in a crossflow LTD radiator. These are thin and HUGE. Height would be about 1" too much on an XM or earlier, but there may be a similar unit slightly less tall. You also need to turn the battery tray sideways and back a little, or just move it somewhere else...

thanks a lot lads yove been a good help, the super charged crossflow up the top has the same radiator as ive got (off xa, b,c) but i reckon he has cut the support out a bit for more room, i think i might look into that, cos ive tryed a skinny xd one but they are way too wide. CHEERS!
