Im looking for a 250 for an engine swap in my early bronco. What years and donor vehicles are the most common to find one?
thanks

The 250’s were built from 1969 to 1983, used in Fairlane’s, Monarchs, Falcons, Comets, Mavericks, Granadas, Torino’s, and maybe a few others I am forgetting. The 250’s all came with a front sump type oil pan so you will need to do some mods to make it into a rear sump pan and also mod the oil pump pick up tube to be able to fit it into a Bronco. Best of luck

I think you only missed one bubba, the Mustang. That was the donor for the 250 in my Bronco right now. And good idea to mention the oil pan early. Good luck doublehfarm. The 250 is still around just have to look harder than before but is a good swap with nice low end torque over the 200/170.

Most likey to find a Granada , Maverick or Comet from @ 70-78 but some early Mustangs' did have 250's . Most recycle/ junkyards don't have anything older than a 5 year old Kia .. CL, E-Bay and local clubs are a usual source . I have a few 250's given to me by V8 swappers. 250 in the Maverick is a low mileage D7BE (probly 1977 Granada) .

Easy ID is low mount starter position, 4 Bolts for Wp , 200 has Three. (some rare 80's Mustang 200;s have low mount )

Yes the most common donors was mentioned so Granadas, Monarchs, Mavericks and Comets as stated. The last one I got was in a Monarch at picnpul. Get the air cleaner, ignition, bh?, throttle cable...
And consider getting a copy of the Falcon Performance Handbook.

read my sig, ask what you will
it's all you'll ever need (power wise)

At the end of the road, a 289/302 swap will cost less.

Consider your options, do a bunch of research and make a decision based on your budget, desire and future resale value. Someday we all sell or our heirs sell.

long way off & owner since '83 here. Mights well have what U need/want as U live it. To me these are life decisions not 'resale'. Had it to do again & the 300/4.9 would go in mine...anyway ~

double - there R no certainties. Some have done the 4.1 ina bronk w/o a pan change, some w/o the Mav mounts'n towers, others w/or w/o the BL. Its all individual w/these bronks, these things R the forewarning & work-a-rounds. We offer them for need not 'must do'. I'd never do a hood scoop. And on'n on. U will C, when & if U do. A good plan, wrk it to the end w/o change, but have these notes on execution @ hand in case. Each day (sometimes hr) has been 'see when we get there' but that luxury is present due to tenacity on plan. Change that in mid-stream & U gotta hack job.

Yes pan mods will probably be needed. I will have to do tha.

"...have to do that..."
as stated above
