hey guys. the machine shop left out BOTH of the oil galley plugs for the end of the oil passages in my buddies motor. most machine shop work i've ever had done on a block included replacing those plugs. i didn't even think to check them. i plugged the one in the back but i still need one for the front of the motor. does anyone have a junk 250 that still has that plug? its the one right above the thrust plate that holds the cam in the motor. i'll send money if you like. i know one of the local parts stores has 'em but they also have a hundred different sizes. i dont want to get the wrong size and strip the hole or crack the block. i dont want to do anything that'll put metal shavings in the oil passage considering this passage oils the cam, main, and rod bearings.
.
does anyone have a plug that i can have?
.
does anyone have the measurements for the plug? (length, diameter, and thread pitch)
.
thanks.

I think it's simply a common 1/4" pipe plug, but I'll check. You should be able to source that from any hardware store. Brass, cast, or aluminum would work.

Pioneer Inc Catalog says they are 2 qty 1/4" x .375" pipe plugs. Any parts store should have them.

Good Luck

Yep, a regular 1/4" NPT pipe plug. My machine shop put em in my 250, but wasn't able to thread the front one in flush with the block, which is important because the cam gear can interfere with it if it is too far out. He suggested grinding off what was sticking out. Luckily i had a tap handy in that size and just tapped it deeper, because NPT threads are tapered slightly, the more you run in the tap, the farther the plug will go in.

thanks for all the help on this one. this plug cost $500, 3 complete rebuilds, and 6 months of my time. finally, i think i can finish
