All Small Six 250 or 240?

I'm looking to upgrade the 170 in my '65 Econoline pickup. I know the 200 fits, but I need more power as I'm in the mountains. I'm willing to switch to an AT if necessary. Easiest choices are 250 or 240 engines. Pros/cons of each? (I think I'll need to post this on the 240/300 group too.)

The 250 is slightly smaller than the 240/300 which could be advantageous and it has the same capability as the 240 or sbf v8 in transmission options. And a lot of torque. It moves my 4000 lb Bronco pretty well.
