Nope, sorry buddy.
1. The width of the little I6 crank pins is wider on the six than the SBF V8, so it won't be relocated on the rod unless the crank is welded or reground to suit the 289 rod. Rod will fit, will have way to much free movement which will end up running the 289 bearings. Diameter is fine, but the bearings are too narrow unless you create a new fillet radius, and take the crank 10 or 20 thou undersize.
2. The 289 rods are only 5.15", not 5.88" as on the US and Aussie 250. Way to short.
Remember, the 200 rods are 6.27", the US 250 rods are the same as the Aussie ones, and are about 5.88" too.
All this is a little head bending, but you'll get there!
The rods and rod bolts need to be rebuilt well with no short steps. An engine rebuild is a once in a lifetime deal for most of us, so get your wife in on the deal, and work out a realistic budget.
We will help out if there are short cuts to be had later, but please don't be afraid of the dollars. Work out the short fall, and get some way of covering it finacially.
All rebuilds are more expensive than we plan, and we all want this to work out for ya mate.
PM me if you need some help.
