Whats known about this engine?
Its throttle body injected.

And will it fit in an XA?
Engine mounts look the same, not so sure about the gearbox mounts though.

A no brainer!

It'll fit.

The Aussie Non World Class T5 or BTR LE 85 auto should have the trans X-member at the same spot as the the common XA gearboxes BW 3-spd, Toploader, BW Single Rail, FMX, the BW35, or C4 ( called the C10 in a 302 or C9 in the 250).

All post 1988 sedans and wagon Fords had the same transmission mount spacing because the OHC had to fit inside the XG and XH ute, which is basically a 1966 XR Falcon underneath.

Fry the bacon!

Sweet, looks like Im buying a 300 buck '90 Falcon to nick the engine out of.
Now, whats the usual power output of these?
Quick an easy mods? (extractors and cam are the usual fare I guess)

And, the XA driveshaft gonna slot in?

The MPI (Multi Point Injection, 139 Killer watts, 345 Nm)
The CFI, 120 and about 315 Nm.

In hp, 186 and 161.

Aftermarket or EB core radiators sorted out the over heating problems on early Ohc's.

Good little engines!

The ea single point 3.9l is about 115kw so not that much better than the old crossflow.
What are you doing for electronics, or might I suggest something?
go straight LPG and run a centrifugal advance dizzy from an earlier six, use the inlet and exhaust (which is a goodie BTW) put an impco or similar mixer on and your away.
The standard exhaust manifold is ok and can take a 2.5inch dumper. the inlet has good thought put into it but it could probably use hogging out.

Alright, what would you lot suggest?
Keep the 4.1 jester and cam her up?
Or got the single point overhead?

And, what box did the '90s falcon auto's use? Better than a borgie 40? (guess it is)
Considering going back to manual too, can pick up a 4spd cheap.
But if I decide that the 3.9s auto is the way, then if Im buying the car for that, may as well dump the 3.9 in too.

How hard is it to convert the single point injection to multi-point later down the track? And is that the only difference?

Ok, big question.

Whats the difference from the MPI computer and the TBI computer?
Can the TBI computer be converted/used for MPI?

The whole kit needs to changed over. Its easy to do if you use the XG or XH ute stuff..all multi.

Ok, getting a regod and wof EA Fairmont, series II spi... 300 bucks.
Then ripping it to bits and dumping it, then getting a full mpi kit and slapping that on.

Looking forward to it!

Also considering an aftermarket computer, any suggestions on that side of things?

Crude, simple Link computer system if you are in NZ. Since it fits in a stock case, it looks stock. It isn't as advanced as the other systems, but it is cheap.

Since the stock computer supports 15.5 second quarter miles with just a good set of headers, a low restriction exhast and a 3.23:1 set of gears in the EA SVO Falcon, then why change? Especially when even the more advanced aftermarket versions have less features than Fords 17 year old EEC computer.

well that sweet then. Wagons already got 3.23 gears in it!
Can you tweek the settings in fordfs ecu then?
Almost thinking thaty the tweecer might be a hald decent investment too!
Dunno, I just love tweaking stuff, thinks it called playing!

Caution: Speeling misstakes are blamed on alcahole!~!

nope, its been an unbelievable piss around!
I ended up having to chop a bit of the front wall out to get another radiator in so I could use the fan shroud (required for cert).
And, the brakes and alignment were being pricks.
Testing guy for the cert thought it was pulling to the left, which it occasionaly did but seemed to depend on the road. So I replaced all the brake pads/shoes, toppped up fluid levels, replaced a few tubes and took it back in, nope still pulling.
Got the brakes tested, they were equal.
So wheel alignment time, now it pulls to the bloody right occasionaly!
And the frontright wheel rubs on the back of the gaurd....

She's going back in for the cert tomorrow, if it dosnt pass this time, screw it, I'm just gonna have to spend a bit of cash.
Once its got the cert, it can get the wof and then rego.
And it better be done before the 19th, I've got to (as in, my life depends on it) get to the Rod show in Auckies...

Shit, the guy that does the cert plates gets back to work on the 16th, rod shows on the 21st, I'd need that plate the day after he gets back!
And rego/wof the day the plates on!

Looks like I'll be leaving the EA in one piece until then, gota have a legal car for the trip.
