3 bolt vs 2 bolt starters

My '61 has a 3 bolt starter. I have several good 3 bolt starter spares. I am gathering parts to do an eventual swap from the 2.77 to the 3.03 trans. The bolt spacing of the 3 bolt starter appears to be about 1/8 inch too small to use it in place of the 2 bolt starter bolt pattern on the '67 3.03 bellhousing that I have aquired. My local pick and pull yard has a '78? Fairmont 2 bolt starter. Are all 2 bolt starters the same mouning? If I have a core 2 bolt starter, can I simply swap the front casting onto one of my 3 bolt starters? Thanks.

I believe that the front casting"nose cone"will swap right on to the starter.
