Looking for some input as to whether Carter YF from a 300 would be too much carb for a 200. My 200 is mildly modified with a 78 head and a Comp 260 cam. I do not have a header installed. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

It has been done. I think maybe geezer :?: ran this setup. I know it took some rejetting and playing around to get it right.

I just did it on my car and I love it!!! I got a comp 260 cam, 69 "M" code head, 6-1 header + exhaust, MSD w/ durraspark 2... It really gets up there and screams now. Brought the RPM range up about a grand or two! What carb do you have on there right now? I had to play with the metering rod a bit and unclog a vaccume port that was covered but once I got these little things squared away, I will never go back to the autolite. Only thing that bothers me about it is that it doesn't have the best idle in the world when it is cold but I can live with it. I highly recomend it!

I am in the process of building a 200 for my 66 Ranchero I have the short block put together with the Comp cam and am now sorting out the head and carburation. I am using a 78 head with the larger valves. I have a new Holly 1946 that I was going to install but have heard that because they were used on EGR applications than they will run too rich when there is no EGR presant. I was concerned about the idle quality with the 300 yf carbs large throttle plate opening. Thanks for the input
