Easy.

First, take the exhast manifold flange, and fill all the undercut bits with cast iron weld. Then grind the exhast ports out as far as they can go. Then get it gas flowed. Use US valves and phosper bronze guides back-cut.

The exhast is the only limiter.

Then custom build a set of three EA falcon throttle body injectors, and make a Megasquirt.

Hint. Throttle body injection isn't very good at creating a fine atomised mix, but on an independant runner intake, it would be okay. The carbs can be tilted at a 30 degree angle to clear the spring towers. Use proprierty tube bends of about 40 mm internal diameter with plenty of wall thickness, and make them smaller than the 42 mm intake ports to the head. Custom intake time!

Get a solid lifter cam, roller rockers, and get Crow to make a custom grind.

Use the XE ignition, and run the AU-BA 6.06" or 6.27" XA-XF 3.3 or EA 3.2 rods. Find either the stock size Chevy 305 forged pistons decked 81 thou to 1.450" or the ACL race pistons with 1.163" deck.

My preferance is the 6.27/1.163 combo, as the CR is better with a mild dish. The Chevy piston decked this much becomes a flat-top.

Unless you have the exhast flow to balance the massive intake flow on 2v heads, then all your efforts to get power will be in vain.
(unless somebody can make a cam to offset the restriction)

Use the counterwieghed crank form the late OHC sixes, and reprofile the cast crank by welding up the right shape to suit the rope seal all 1960 to 1984 blocks ran.

Power figures?

370 hp at 6600 rpm, reving to 7400 rpm. Torque is 350 lb-ft at 4500 rpm.

This would be tip top expectations.

The trans has to be a close ratio V8 T5, or a modified 4-speed auto.

Millage will be almost twice as much as an EFI XE under load ( 11 to 13 mpg), but will hit the 17 mark on the highway.

Make it easy on yourself, and turbo it. Your pushing the ragard edges of the 250's rev range. A turbo would take it out!
