$400 ebay motor

Well we got the $400 ebay motor we got pulled apart. We where told it had only 8000 miles on it be fore it lost compression in #1 cly. Found that the piston was broken and the cly is scored and the block is bored .060. So we’re looking for another block. As for the rest of the parts we’re happy. It has a clay smith cam # h.6474.12.b (does anyone know what the specs are for this cam), 10/10 crank great shape, rebuilt rocker assy, rebuilt head with a offenhuser 3 carb manifold and 3 1904 glass bowled carbs, pacemaker header, distributor with a pertronix installed. Great parts to start the rebuild.

Why look for another block? Just have the bad cylinder resleaved, bored .060 over replace the piston and rering the rest and carry on from there. :)

Sounds like you got a good deal

Most cam grinders use what are pretty much mnemonics.

You can see it in action on the butt code as described; H=Hydraulic, 64=264 (Intake), 74=274 (Exhaust), 12=112 (Lobe Centres), B is probably the operator's own code, or possibly billet grind.

I, too, vote for the simplicity of a re-sleeve.

Ditto on the sleeve-I have had one for 16 years with no problems. Cheap as I recall which makes the motor a real steal.
