Well we didn't quite make it to the 12's but we're REAL close. No matter what we did we couldn't get any more MPH out of it. Every pass was 101mph. So we're definately pulling the 4.56s out of it and putting in some 4.11s. I think we're well past the hp peak crossing the finish line.
Her best 60' was 1.87sec. Still need to get this down to 1.7s.
This all equates to 290hp or so. She'd already be in the 12's if the density altitude was lower. We were running last night with a 6200' DA. Track elevation is 3075.
We'll try again soon!

Hmmm, lets see.

I'll bet you money that a 500 Holley and a set of 3.91, 3.9 or 3.89's will give you 12's at 110 mph.

You are amazing. I look up to you...er...your wife...er...the falcon...ALL of yall!!!! I cant wait to get my stang movin HALF that fast, lol!
Matt

Sounds good .

I would pull some gear out of it. Probably not much room for a taller tire at a later date too?

All,
I jetted the carb up a bit and turned up the boost to 12lbs. It's running real good. Surprisingly all 6 plugs look the same. I thought for sure the #1 & #6 would be lean.
The tranny is shifting flawlessly now with the rev. man. valve body.

Dean,
Got your PM. The reason we're going to go with 4.11s is because they're free! A buddy of mine has a set and he wants our 4.56s so we're just swapping. I agree that a 3.90 or so might be better but we'll try the 4.11s first.
We'll try again in about a month.

Will

sa-weet! you have got to have a great wife. i cant even find a girl that even knows what a falcon is...

i would be happy with 13's even high 13's. being that i think my somewhat-local track is the highest in the country (bandimere in colorado)

maybe i missed all this info on your last post, but i have a load more questions. what tires are you running? do they hook, or go up in a cloud of smoke? are you launching at the 12 psi? your just running a mild(cammed and carbed, still on cast pistons) engine with a turbo, right? what turbo? and do you know what this little car is getting for mpg? it would be cool if it could not only whip the car in the next lane, but do so with the less fuel it takes for that little engine. and what tranny are you running? what about exaust? have you considered intercooling? im sure that i will have more questions later...

6bangerwanab,
Here's some answers....
The tires are BFG Drag Radials, 235/60R-15. Yes they hook very well, at least with the C4 automatic we're running. On the two-step it'll produce about 5lbs. of boost@ 2500rpm.
Yes mild cam (CSC-274-SHS cam from Fordsixparts.com), cast pistons, and a Holley 350 2bbl.
Exhaust is a single 3" pipe with a Dynomax Race Bullet muffler dumped before the axle.
It's already intercooled!
I'm not sure what the gas milage is. Never checked. Never filled the tank all the way up either! Never had to. One of these days I'll check.

And YES I've got the BEST wife! She's out in the garage with me helping work on both of our drag cars.........and she can cut a .513 light!

sweet, how about some pics of how that intercoolers set up? im really interested because of space limitations i would guess that its a regular air-air charge cooler.

no sign of those pistons melting?

The IC is in the wheelwell. There's no room in the front of a '63 after you put a elec. fan on there.
And yes it's an air to air IC.
No sign of cylinder/piston problems. In fact we did a compression check the other day and the lowest hole was 140psi.

i kinda though that a water to air would be neccessary due to the restriction of space as you mentioned. i would also think that it could help with spool time on those vehicles with larger turbo's. maybe use a good sized heater core or 2, find a pump that flows well, and maybe the cooler for the water would be easier to mount.

transbrake and convertor too?

My six can run a 20 second pass...ooooh what now.... Man if I were anywhere near 12 second passes right now I would be estatic. Simply incredible. Can someone tell me what a 200 with a 250-OZ and a turbo pushing 8-9psi could run realistically?

I wish i could. i really wish i could tell you.

probably pull at least 12's if built right

A few years ago, one of the GM sixers here was getting dependable high 13s with an N/A tricarbed 173. In a wagon, no less.

The thing that ultimately killed project development was an insoluble problem of the flywheel bolts coming loose.

A turbo crossflow 250 with I/C will do low tens. I guess your answer lies somewhere between.

Adam.

65straightsick,
A turbo on a 200 will easily get you into the 13s without to much trouble. Using some sticky tires of of course.

what turbo are you running? Ct-26? also, where are you getting the covers for the carbs that connect the hose to it? maybe you should try to use that N-tercooler thing from NX. it is supposed to cool the temps and help turbo spool. but thats just a thought. if i dropped in forged pistons and shotpeened the stock rods could i run 15-18 psi? is 300hp realistic on a 10k budget?

$10,000 budget!!! Holy sh$t! You can make way more than 300hp.
And yes stock rods and cast pistons can withstand 18lbs. of boost without a problem. UNLESS the tune-up is bad! If you get any detonation then you'll hole a piston.
The carb hat is from ATI. A buddy of mine has a couple of them for sale if you want one. I don't know how much but I could ask.
I don't want to put any nitrous on the car. Using nitrous to cool the intake charge works great right up until you run the bottle empty. Now your tuneup goes to hell and you can't run the number.
I'll never use nitrous again! I've found TURBO!
