'63 TurboFalcon goes 13.12@101!

well i am not goin to start the build until april-may of 2005. but i'm planning in advance. i need some cosmo work on the car and a bit of suspension goodies i'd like to install, so 10k isnt JUST for the motor. 7k is probably going into the motor. i already have 15x7 4 lug rims and i would like to know what rear end i would be able to use so that i could keep the rims on. also, do you see a turbo 6 being able to drive on the street safely? drag radials are a must i know and so is an upgraded tranny. would the 2.83:1 gearing i have be ok for the 1/4 or should i drop the POS? i dont want to be the fastest car in town, but a 13 second slip would definetly be my target. i'm only 15 and i bought my car last october so i'm still working odd jobs to pay for stuff :? . the best car at my school is a frikin Evo8 and a mustang 5.0. i'd expect the evo with its bad driver to be running 14's along with the stang. i wana show these people what a six can do. i got 1st in a go kart touney in south padre island, texas this past summer so i can drive pretty good, although im not sure i could control 500hp :D

$7000 for a motor! Jeeeezzzz! You won't need nearly that amount! Kelly and I have about $4k in her entire car......including the purchase price! And she beats up on $40,000 Cobras all the time!
As far as streetability with a turbo six, so far it's doing fine. We drive it around a little bit. It does get a little warm but that's because of the pusher fan, and we live in Tucson! If we keep the car moving it's fine.
If you have puller type fan or an engine driven fan you won't have this problem. And it's not really a problem it doesn't get that hot. Maybe 200* or so max.
The 2.83 rear would be bad for drag racing, but really good for gas milage. I'd recommend something in the low 3's, 3.27s or so.
Drag radials aren't a must, but they sure do help. If you're going to drive the car daily then I wouldn't get DRs. They only last about 5k miles depending on the quantity and quality of burnouts! But now that I think about it, when I was in High School my normal street tires didn't last very long either!
And don't worry....a turbo six can beat a mildly mod'd 5.0 and just about all imports.

i was thinking about getting a 6 blade flexalite engine driven fan. Goodyear Eagle d3s or whatever they are called were the tire i chose before the turbo idea. i got my car for 2800 and it had wheels, stereo, interior, and a decent paint job. but it isnt near where i want it. for the motor i was thinking of buying one from a yard then using that to build and keeping the original engine in the car for the time being. Forged JE pistons, shotpeened rods, reman'd crank, and arp hardware are what i was planning for the bottom end. and the baffled pan from FSPP. then i was gona use a 274 cam, 250 OZ head, full roller rockers, single valve springs, oil through lifters and such, then the dura spark 2, msd 6 ignition, and whatever else i need. for a carb what would be the best choice? i usually just cruise around on the weekends since i only have a frikin permit so heat wont be a factor.

if done correctly it shouldn't cost that much to build a turbo six,at least in theory (does10's, how much do you have in yours) and there are also some really thin electric fans out there, or you can run duels and maybe the moter for each fan will fit between the water pump and accesories.

if your racing, remember that you should air down your rear tires and air up your fronts. perfect your reaction, launch, and shifts and you will already be ahead of the game.

i know what its like man, (im 17, my daily driver, a ranger (still an inline!) experiences abnormal tire wear, that right rear goes away fast...)

im still dieing to see pics of that intercooler setup, and i would still love to know how it does on gas...
