64 Fairlane with an automatic

MY question is: I ahve a 1964 Fairlnae with an automatic trans that seems alittle week. Does a C-4 go in it's place or do you rebuild the current one?

.....WHAT DO YOU HAVE NOW? IS IT A TWO SPEED OR A 3 SPD? IS IT STOCK? WHAT MOTOR DO YOU HAVE? 170,200.OR V8 (MAYBE A 427?) THIS IS MY WAY OF SAYING NEED MORE INFO TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION.

It is a 6 cly and it is a 2 speed. I do however wish it was a 427.....
 
A C-4 will go in in place of your Fordomatic. However if your engine is pre 1966 you wil have to use a C-4 Bell Housing from a 1965, 170 or 200 6 cyl. engine. You will also need to change your coluum shifter and drive shaft yoke.
