66 engine compartment

I have a 1966 mustang coupe with a 200 ci inlune 6. I was wondering how big of an engine I ciould drop in later if I wanted to without modifications to the engine compartment. (If I did this, I would of course keep and restore the stock 6 so I can drop it back in for value). Any help would be nice, thanks,

You can go as big as a 351 V8 without modifying the shock towers. To do this you will have to completely upgrade the front suspension to handle the weight. You would also need to upgrade the brakes and master cylinder for extra stopping power. When you go to sell it you will have a 1966 Mustang with a 6cyl engine and a very expensive V8 front end suspension.
