68 dizzy orientation

I'm planning to crank my mustang over for the first time as the rebuild is about complete. As I have expressed, I have a Holley 5200 and a 68 dizzy. When I orientated my 68 dizzy, like my 65, having the vacuum pointed in the direction of the 6th cylinder, the oil dip stick is in the way and can't be checked. Is it possible that I can move the vacuum toward the fender well and achieve correct timing?

Set the rotor at #1. Pull the dizzy out until you can turn the rotor one tooth counterclockwise one tooth. Reinsert the dizzy, crank engine to suck it in and line up the oil pump drive, then set the static timing. static timing is when you set the pointer at the proper mark, then set the rotor to point at #1.

Ok, are you saying I can point the vacuum in any direction, as long as the rotor is pointed at #1 after I seat it during the installation? I guess I pop the dizzy back in, manually turn the engine till the dizzy pops down, and then move the rotor back to one?
