6cyl specks??

How come on the classic inline pages on the specks page for the small six it says to use ATF in the manuel trannys :shock: Weren't they all using 80/90 gear oil??? :shock:

Hey man, all the guys who really know this stuff are at work. They'll get back to you when they go on break.
 
I don't have a manual in front of me, but I'd swear the old 2.77 and 3.03 gearboxes use 80-90 gearlube.

Lots of newer 5-speeds use ATF, though.
 
8) the early manual trans gear boxes use 75w-90 gear oil, where as the T5 uses atf.
 
My manual (for 1961 - 1986) says the following under Manual Transmission Fluid Recommendations: "The lubricant in the transmission should be checked periodically. Use SAE 80/90 gear oil only, in the manual transmission."
