6cyl specks??

How come on the classic inline pages on the specks page for the small six it says to use ATF in the manuel trannys Weren't they all using 80/90 gear oil???

I don't have a manual in front of me, but I'd swear the old 2.77 and 3.03 gearboxes use 80-90 gearlube.

Lots of newer 5-speeds use ATF, though.

8) the early manual trans gear boxes use 75w-90 gear oil, where as the T5 uses atf.

My manual (for 1961 - 1986) says the following under Manual Transmission Fluid Recommendations: "The lubricant in the transmission should be checked periodically. Use SAE 80/90 gear oil only, in the manual transmission."
