have one with the 3.3 200 six . appears to be leaking aronrd the blots that hold the intake log on . i think that is right . so would that be a bad intake gasket or head gasket . the bolts it is leaking around are by the valve cover but not under the valve cover . this make sense

any suggestions tip on pulling the intake laog and or head off to make it simpler

Good to see you're back posting, sho-pny. Things didn't get off to the ideal start.

The covers often leak from bolts being overtightened. Actual tension required is very low. I'd urge you to replace the gasket and use a sealant (either Blue Hylomar or RTV) to bond it with the valve cover, relying on either a dry fit or Permatex #3 on the milled surface where it touches youe cylinder head.

Make sure you've not got excess blowby, as that will cause leakage which is really hard to control.

One thing we can all pretty much guarantee is that it isn't the intake manifold gasket that is leaking

does seem down on power (what little it has) a maybe a miss to it
put new plugs cap rotor on it

new to straight 6's why wouldnt there be a gasket between the intake log and head ?
possibel head gasket then ?

Your intake log is cast with the head; it's not removable. If it's a little slugish and weak lately, either a compression check or vacuum test will help identify if there are engine health issues.

Ford in all it's wisdom cast the head and intake as a single peice, there is no seperating them without extra ordinary messures.

There are some other options out there with removable intakes, but nothing that was stock to the US.

There are some other options out there with removable intakes, but nothing that was stock to the US.

When the intake cast with the head was released it was considered a technological marvel. For a daily driver it actually works very well but does not lend itself well to performance.



The thrill has worn off and we all want bolt on intakes now.

changed duraspark box tonite helped a lot think it is just valve cover leaking
also put new fuel pump on

what id the duraspark II box how much better where you get
is it worth it

got the new valve cove on but still apprears to be leaking at the back half of valve cover what can be done ? brand new gasket not over tight i dont think any ideas

I'd generally suggest looking for areas of the bolting flange, that have been damaged in times past by overtightening.

Also, "glue" the cork gasket to the valve cover by use of Permatex#3 or Blue Hylomar - both are pretty good at providing a satisfactory bond that may be later broken when required.

If oil leaks are still excessive, try coating the milled surface of the head with Permatex, as well.
