8in Diffs

Hi,
Hoping someone can help me locate this information. Did Ford make (or make available) in Australia a 4 stud, 8inch Differential for 6 cylinders? I'm looking to change up from my 7/1/4 differential due to lack of parts availability but want keep it 4 stud.

Whining is seldom an indication of catastrophic failure being imminent.

Your cheapest interim option is to drain it and pop the lid. If the gears are worn but OK, the noise is coming from (usually) worn out pinion bearings. Fixing these will be cheaper than a "new" diff.

Shipping a single diff would cost around the thou mark as a minumum (if you do your own legwork this end). That'll get you a used diff, open centre. All this stuff's 30+ years old; it needs refurbishing.

Thanks for the offer but I think I will pop done to the local pull-it-yourself wrecker and hunt and cannabilise some old falcons before they have time to run off.
