The exhaust manifold has been leaking in the usual spot since I bought the car last June. I finally got around to ordering a new gasket from CI last night (along with the header studs to spread out my cash outlay for the headers... ). I've been spraying the bolts for the past two weeks with penetrating oil in anticipation of getting them off. They came off pretty easy this morning, much to my pleasant surprise. I was figuring I had a fight on my hands and wanted to get it done in anticipation of the gasket arriving.
Anyways...
While working on the rear most bolt I noticed a number. It looks like a date - 2-3-92. There is a FoMoCo raised casting on the front as well as a C5 part number. Is this just coincidence or is this a reproduction casting made in the 90s? I don't really care either way as it will be getting replaced sometime in the relatively near future. But if it is a '92 reproduction that would help me guess when the motor was switched out and this motor was rebuilt. Doesn't help as to how many miles are on the rebuild. I'll be able to guesstimate that when the gasket comes in (I also ordered a new head gasket and valve cover gasket as my head gasket has taken to leaking).
