All Small Six Block Oddity?

This relates to all small sixes

I have what I believe to be a 170cid engine as it has a "T" marking by the machined pad. The oddity is the block casting number. As I understand it, Ford six's have the casting number in very close proximity to the starter motor and on the passenger side of the engine. Mine is not there...rather it is located on the drivers side. That casting number is "C3DE-6015 E". It is installed in a 1961 Ford Falcon Futura, so obviously not original to the car. The block is from the Cleveland Foundry. Why would this casting number (engineering number) be on the drivers side? Anyone with knowledge about this? Thanks.

It happens. I've seen this subject discussed on another thread here. I can't remember what the thread was about though to search for it.
