Hey there,

I just got a new holly 2 barrel for my 67 mustang. I purchased a Clifford adaptor for it, and have the 2bbl on top of it. Now I've run into the problem of running the throttle linkage, because the carb isn't turned the ideal way for me to just hook it up like it was on my 1bbl. I've searched older topics for answers, but I'm still a little confused. If you have any suggestions, pictures, and/or links to other topics I may have missed, I would greatly appreciate your help. In the mean time I'll keep searching through other topics. Thanks.

it makes it so the carb points the throttle linkage towards the front of the engine.

That is exactly the reason why I stuck with a Weber as opposed to a Holly 350. I didn't want to fiddle with having to set up a cable thottle linkage.

Jaryd, how you will be able to tackle this problem will depend on your tools available and fab skills.

I think the cable route is the best way.

Hey thanks for the link. So I just bought some universal linkage, and fabbed up an aluminum plate and bolted it to the carb adaptor, ran the linkage through that and back to the fire wall where the gas pedal is. It seems to work really well, I've got a few more hours of work to do, and I'll post pics. Next is the problem of an air cleaner.

hey linc...is that bonnet just a square box?

There is a vertical piece of 2-1/2" tubing full of holes welded in the center of it.
That way air pressurizes the box and has to flow through the holes on all sides before reaching the carb.

Howdy Jaryd and All:

You might save yourself some time and effort by looking for a Maverick/Comet or Fairmont and clones. They all use a cable pedal system that is easily adaptable. The only fabrication left is an anchor or base on the top or side of the valve cover. I fabbed my first one out of some starter shims bolted to a chrome valve cover. One the second I used a late model "Powered by Ford" cover that I had chromed. They have a bracket attached already making the cable housing end mount easier.

Once you get it all done and installed be sure to check the the pedal travle is opening the throttle butterflys all the way.

Adios, David
