Cable Throttles? A few questions

Well i'm currently planning on taking my sisters 2 barrel holley off her 289 (shes replacing it with a 4 barrel) and using it for my 200.

I am wondering if i'd need to switch over to a cable throttle or if the regular linkage will work without any serious modification. I would be using an adaptor (not sure from where, any suggestions would be welcomed, links especially :) ).

Also do you think standard jets would cause a problem? Or do you think i'd be fine without changing them? (i'm gonna get the item number off it tommorrow, as i need to get a rebuild kit for it anyways).

Also how easy\hard is it to get a throttle cable? Is there a kit i can buy? Would this also help my quest in getting a floating pedal cause i hate the one thats in the floor.

I used a brand new holley 350 out of the box and Ive had no problems. The plugs are a nice tan color if you are using a 500cfm holley you will need a jet swp. As far as linkage goes ifyou have a manual cable throttle will be the easiest thing just replace the pedal. If you have an auto look at mustang geezers site simply add a smal extension pece to you rod and a small bracket for the carb. This is assuming you have your carb mounted like the one on his site.

I used a Lokar setup, made a bracket out of piece of metal, and V8 style throttle rod.

Who makes the distributor on your motor?? I used a Pertronix Flamethrower on my 302 and love it.. would like to do the same on the 6.

Check my site; I used the Lokar pedal setup/cable, and modified a throttle bracket that I found at Checker Auto Parts.
Even if you weren't upgrading to the 2 bbl, I'd still recommend a cable setup- the sensitivity and smoothness is very nice.

AZstang,

I am interested in what parts you needed to upgrade to the 2bbl Holley as well as if you are running headers.

I have a little 200 in an '80 mustang that i want to mildly do up...

thoughts on cam???

I will be doing a compression check on all cylinders to see if a total rebuild is needed...

thanks
