air/fuel gauge for headers

if you talking about an O2 sencor then it should work you would need to put one in each of the colector's if you have a duel out with two gages..

I was thinking about welding a crossover tube between the collectors and mounting it there, just a thought

I have read the same thing about only using one sensor. That is there is not much benefit unless you are running sequential multiport injection and have the ability to adjust individual cylinders. If you are using a heated sensor (many widebands seem to be) the sensor can be mounted almost at the tailpipe. Do you have an X or H pipe? I have heard of many people mounting them there?

I mountd mine in one of the dual pipes after the header before they merge (I have a single exhaust). Make sure you use a wideband sensor - the narrow band units are useless for tuning carbs. I have a kit from AEM which I was able to get on ebay for only 225, new, in box. It works extremely well and has been fundamental to getting my car to run right. It also revealed a very dangerous lean condition at full throttle at hi revs that I thought was just something loose rattling under the hood, but was actually my engine thinking about exploding. It paid for itself right there.
