alternator bracket

I'm talking about the upper arm but the lower one that keeps the alternator stationary. I have the factory air bracket, but it looks like I might be using it after all. Where can I get a non-A/C lower alternator bracket?

My 68 had factory AC, but I am not having any problems with my bracket... I even took the compressor out. Any reason you want to change out yours? Just for the look?
I think either a junk mustang parts place would be your best bet, being that places like NPD may not have them (although it couldnt hurt to ask).

I've checked the local junkyards, but the few mustangs that were there were V8s. No help there. I've checked for Mavericks, falcons, etc... and can't seem to find any. Everything out here is like 80s and up. Oh well, I'm gonna cut my A/C bracket down.

There is, or at least was an alternator bracket on ebay for like $10. I just paid $125 for an a/c bracket. Damn, we could have made a trade and saved over a hundred bucks.

Yeah, those AC brackets I would imagine are harder to find than the regular alternator brackets for a 6. In fact factory AC it thought was quite a rarity in Stangs with 6s. You are the only other 6er that i know of who has factory AC.

from what I have seen a chrome mr gasket bracket is just like the stocker....might need some new holes but at $10 new can't beat it.

UPDATE:

I cut the bottom of the A/C bracket to construct a lower bracket. Then I went ahead and bought the stainless steel alternator arm. My setup didn't work. I'm 3" off, and even doin't some moving around, I got 1/4" off. ARG!!!!!!! :bang: :bang: :bang:

Anybody know where I could get a lower alternator bracket? or the dimensions/pics of one so I could make one? What of the Mr. Gasket one, i've looked but can't find one that's remotely close.

Andrew

Try looking on granada's, marvericks etc. They used the same engines with the same brackets, and likely to be more available at junkyards. You might be able to get one for a Granada or Maverick at your local Napa or AutoZone as well. It's at least woth a shot.

Good Luck
