Does anyone know where I can get aftermarket alternator brackets for my 200 Inline 6? My 1967 Mustang appears to have had A/C at one point and the original bracket is hideous. My alternator sits below this particular bracket and I'd like to replace it with a stand alone bracket that is for use only with the alternator. Also, if there is such a bracket, would I need to use a different belt for my engine? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

I don't think you can find any "aftermarket" part on a shelf in a parts house, but there are a lot of 200's that came without A/C and they use a MUCH smaller bracket than the one you have on your car. Some of these guys here may have an extra, check around on the VMF (vintage-mustang.com), or hit the junkyards. Just make sure you get both pieces. One bolts to the block and the side of the timing cover and the long, lower alt. bolt runs through it, the other piece attaches to the water pump and allows adjustment.

Thanks for the feedback guys...

65coupei6, I saw the pic of the bracket you sell, but what about the bottom bracket?

If your bracket is similiar to my 65 AC bracket, then you can do this mod. My A/C bracket had the lower alternator bracket bolted on. I took off the alternator and unbolted the lower alternator bracket off and put the A/C bracket to the side. Now look down at the block and you will see three holes. The two holes closet to the front of the block is where you are suppose to bolt the alternator. However the holes on the bracket from the A/C don't line up to those on the block. No problem though. Bolt the bracket in the second hole back. Put the alternator back in and your pulleys will align correctly. All you have to do is to buy the upper alternator bracket. If you want some pictures, I probably be able to post them this weekend.
