Alternator Light

My alternator light is sort of coming on at the mid RPM range. It doesn't come on all the way. And it sort of fluctuates. It sometimes changes momentarely when I change from deceleration to acceleration. The light is off from idle to mid RPM then comes on part way then goes back off as the RPM gets high. I checked the belt and the plug into the regulator. The alternator and regulator are both new. About 700 miles on them.

Thanks for your help

8) First check the battery cables and connections.
Next check the regulator.
Then test the out put of the alternator.
The problem maybe a bad diode in the alternator.

Sounds like the diode trio may be going bad. When working properly, they are supposed to keep the voltage the same, no mater the rpm. If your belts are tight, then the only other thing I can think of is the diode trio. They are very simple to replace if the alternator has an internal regulator. I haven't had the pleasure of working on an external regulator system yet.

Thanks guys. I had decided it was probably in the alternator also.
