Long story short I can not get car inside at this time, normally do most of my own work. So I have several things needing done to it, it is with local mechanic (paying them but I am staying out of the cold)
Carb issues with the 1 bbl it has to come off and be cleaned/rebuilt.
Well I had purchased holley/webber from stovebolt, including adapter. studied stickies here to guestimate jetting. Slotted adapter so can position carb properly instead of sideways. Problem was could not figure anyway to mod my throttle linkage to work in the timeframe I had (car had to get back on road it is a daily driver)
Put 1bbl back on and threw the 2bbl and adapter in a box on shelf. Evryone here said go cable scarf parts from donar such as Maverick or buy Lokar. I am not cheaP but did not want to pay for Lokar, Talked to local boneyards, they are all late model no Mavericks or anything they say will work for me.
On Monday instead of messing with 1 bbl I would much rather go with 2bbl.
Is there something I can do getting parts from Napa, Advance, or Pep Boys (or the local hardware for that matter) to make something work for this so I could run the 2 barrel instead? Car is autotrans, but I can go with manual downshift instead of kickdown if that would simplify.
Also from these same places is there an option for an aircleaner, I probably do not need to point out this carb is that funky football or what ever you want to call it shaped flange. And height clearance did not look very plentiful when I had the carb bolted on before.
Any guidance, Ideas, suggestions? I really need your help on this one, I really do not want to mess with the 1 barrel carb. I think the two barrel would not only run better, but if the foot can be controled, I can not help but think it should do better on gas and be much more driveable. But of course when I put the carb on the shelf this spring as soon as I ran into trouble finding something for a throttle cable setup to work, I got lazy and just made do with the 1 barrel, and dumb me, now I do not have time uyet again!
Help
Thanks?
Tim (yes I deserve to be ribbed for putting things off as I did)
