Ok I searched and didn't find anything on this. Can a chevy HEI distributor made for a chevy 250 or 200 fit a ford mustang 67 200 block without modifications?
It can be done, thats pretty much what a DUI is. Starting with something that is too big is the easy way, you can always machine things down. Its a little harder to add. Since I got a lathe I have modified a few. Dont remember what they were for I just had dimensions. I think they were for some flat heads. I did not have a lathe when I did my 200 or I likely would have tried it.
I took off my spark advance on my dizzy yesterday because it wasn't working. So I am looking for a newer dizzy to put in or just replace the part I took off.
8) you can get a duraspark distributor from a later 200, and hook it to a chrysler ignition box, i used the orange box as it is an upgrade over the stock one, and use an msd blaster lll coil. that combination works great in my old 66 falcon.
I'll probably by the second one and ignition box after thursday. Get some birthday money and buy them unless my parents buy me a replacement vacuum advance.
Also while looking at the modules I noticed there are different ones. Red, Green, Brown grommets. Do I get the code of the dizzy and then find out which one I need?
It depends on what you are using for a module. Both the ford and GM modules have special connectors that look pretty and fit tight. Both of them are close enough to fairly standard crimp on ends you can make them work that way. You can also just cut the connectors off on the Ford one and splice the wires. If you are going with a MSD6 you dont need any other module. They make a nifty harness with connectors to connect to a DS dizzy but again you can work around it if you dont care as much how it looks. The Duraspark type coils use a special connector. Most coils have screw terminals.
Ordered most of my parts today. My new dizzy will arrive Tuesday. Still need to buy new wireset and cap adapter. Spent $104 on dizzy, module, rotor, and cap. When done should only spend about $140.
