Another programmable ignition box

This was developed for the air cooled VW crowd, but looks pretty universal. This one still uses a distributor, but the advance is locked out, the vacuum disabled, and spark timing is controlled via the programming in the box.

Set it for 4, 6, or 8 cylinders. You program a 3D map for advance, load, and rpm or use one of the pre-installed maps to get started.

It looks like it can accept pretty much any distributor input including points, magnetic reluctor (DSII), or a hall sensor. The integrated MAP sensor can handle boost as well.

For the price, it looks pretty capable and this eliminates all the advance curve guesswork.

I'd personally still take a distributorless system any day of the week, but for slipping an emissions-controlled vehicle with a totally programmable ignition system under the nose of the smog people that is pretty darned awesome.

And what is required often with our 3.3's in California

From NAVYCAT
thats why i had to sell my 84RS and my 81 white black magic.... the smog nazi's were on my ass.... so thats why i now have a '69 ford, no smog so cali can suck it!

See http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthread. ... elp-Needed

and how difficult it is for little 92 hp 3.3 owners.

Ignition is definately not really the core issue, its more complicated, and often just dried out gaskets. You know a carb 3.3 fox guy can pass one month, drive 5 miles, and fail the IM test next time. But ignition is a key part.

See how good networking and talking through it with experts with BTDT's solves Smog Nazi issues. http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthread. ... This-SUCKS!

True. This could be hidden out of site.

CB also has a distributorless system, but I think its only for 4 cyl engines.
