Any better 1100's than those from Pony Carbs?

I've rebuilt my '66 1100 with a kit and the best parts from my 2 carbs. I still think the performance may be subpar. No vacuum leaks and timing seems right. Are there any other remanufactured carbs other than the ones from Pony Carbs that are any good? I once bought an 1100 replacement at Advance Auto Parts, but that was crap (the carb, not the store).

Pony Carb make a quality product. The only downside is the high price. Many here think that it is worth it.

Before you blame it all on the carb, know that the Load-O-Matic distributor, its vacuum cannister, and its internal mechanism can also contribute to poor performance. I'd suggest that you check out your ignition thoroughly before deciding on the carb.

That's my two cents, for what it's worth.

You're tellin' me! My buddy's '91 crown vic/5.0 was runnin' HORRIBLY and missin' like hell... I went through everything and couldn't find it only to find out a spark plug wire was broken. Go figure! =)

Getting a bad carb from any of the big box stores is no surprise, as they are basicly thrown together. Even though it costs more, go with a knpwn rebuilder or DIY.

WOW. Guess I need to read before I push the button. Should have read Go with a known rebuilder or DIY. To expand on the big box carbs, they are sometimes not assembled and adjusted right, and missing parts. I have not had much luck with any of the big box carbs in the 35 or so years that I have been working on engines.
As long as your throttle shaft is a non-wobble fit in the carb body, get a kit and DIY. Not too hard, and a good learning experience. Follow the direction sheet, make double sure everything is cleaned, pay close attention to the required adjustments, and you should be fine. If the shaft is not a good fit in the body, you won't get good results, and need to get it bushed or exchanged.
