Hello,
I have cruised around this site but haven't seen the answer I'm looking for. Please excuse if this has been covered.
I had to replace the head on a 62 Ranchero (it came with a '67 200ci ) I bought as it was cracked. After I put a large-log head on the engine, I took an angle-grinder to the ruined head to see what would be involved in removing the log and welding/drilling a 1/4" plate that I could use as a base for custom intakes. It looks do-able but beyond what I can do in my garage.
I found a machine-shop that would do the milling but they are asking for a blue-print so that they can do a proper set-up.
Does anyone know where this might be available? Has anyone done this before? If so, what would need to be looked out for? Water jacket, etc.?
I appreciate any help or suggestions. I have a number of complete 200 and 250 blocks and heads and I really want to get started.
Thanks, Terence
ps. Yes, I know all about the Oz-Argentine-Vintage Inline heads and I plan on getting one of those for my 250 build, but I want to try my hand at this. Just built this way I guess. (-:
