Anyone want to sell an overdrive transmission?

I'm looking for a truck 3-speed overdrive transmission for my 56 F-100. The one with the big 1-3/8 shaft. Does anyone know where one is for sale or want to sell a good used one to me? If you can't find a 53-56 overdrive then a 57-64 should work too. My 223 could really use the overdrive on the freeway. Please, any info would be greatly appreciated.

Howdy Tricks:

I think I've got an early sixties three speed with and electric OD. But I'm in eastern Idaho. Where are you?

Adios, David

If you really can't come up with anything from the right period someone who builds toploaders migh be ableto do you one up
just like what you need.
They could use possibiliy a SROD gear set (overdrive 4th) and or srod case (single internal linkage shifter)
And there might even be able to fit a 1 3/8 input spline shaft
1 3/8 splines were stock in the higher HP cars like boss 429s,...

I'm unsure if you can fit the big spline input with OD gears

Hello CZLN6, I'm interested in that early 60's 3-speed you have. I'm way down south in the tip of Texas. Got any pics of the tranny? and have a price?

When choosing an overdrive transmission the input shaft size is rarely a concern. Unless you are looking to put big block power through a B-W unit, most any Ford based transmission will be tough enough. Clutch disks matching whatever input shaft you do have are much easier to find and more affordable than a specific type of overdrive transmission. Input shaft length can be a concern depending on your application, but I have gotten around that one with a longer pilot bushing made for me out of bronze.

Is there a 4 speed tranny that will bolt up to my 1953 Mainline with '61-'64 223? Without the modification of a T5. If not what options would I have?.... What Vehicles should I search for at the junkyard? :thanks: I think I'v asked about this before but its been a while. Enlighten me.

The B&W T10's and early Top Loaders should bolt up a later model trans (wide bolt) case can also be redrilled to fit narrow pattern bells. Big Fords have the right mounts to bolt in others would also work (except for the Falcon only type trans shifter mount too far forward some do have both though) 1961 was first year for the car 4 speeds
