Are my engine and carb original?

I recently purchased this 66 ranchero and do not know how to tell if the engine and carb are original. I would appreciate it if you could help me identify the engine and carb. check out the pics at this link:

Look at the "D8BE" on the intake manifold. Check the block numbers to see if it is the same with a "D8" prefix. I'd say someone might of dropped in a newer motor and converted it to a cable throttle also.
engine-006.jpg shows the number at the top above the choke in the sideways pic
engine-003.jpg shows the exhaust is a "C8" prefix though the block number is hard to make out between a "D" or a "C"
C = '60's
D = '70's
So D8 = '78 and C8 = '68

the exaust manifold is c8 and the engine block is d8.. someone did some mix and match, thanks.
