I need some help with a project I am working on. I need to know how much clearance we have under the hood. I need the measurement from the top of the alloy manifold to the bottom of the hood, at it's shortest point. Which is probably where the air cleaner is closest to the fender.

I'm not sure how to measure, other than using some plasti-gauge or soft modeling clay on top of the air cleaner, closing the hood, then measuring it's thickness. Then measure from the manifold to the top of the cleaner, and add the to together.

I know this is a lot to ask, but it sure will help if I know what it is, on the various years and models. I can't say why just yet, but it's very important for me to get a fairly accurate measurement.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'll get you mine tonight my friend...if you divulge the secret of the project! Sounds like a clearance check on the new alloy valve covers!! PLEASE say it is.

Mike,

Sounds like Brice has you covered for the 63.

Cold air intake?

Mike,

Do you need from the carb base or the top of the runners? I can get you that next weekend.

Mike

From the top of my aircleaner, I have 2.25" to the underside of the hood. I used Playdoh at 4 different locations on the top of the cleaner lid and all came up right at 2.25"

Then, measured from the top face of the intake runner (inlcuding the JetHot of course) to the top surface of the aircleaner lid, I have 7.75".

i don't have a micrometer, but with a good slide rule T-ruler and a good eye, that yields a flat 10"

Thanks Bryce. Hopefully I'll get a few more answers. Ten inches is great and will give me the room I need. I can't say what I'm up to (not yet), but you will hear about it in Mustangs & Fords sometime in the near future.

Weren't Will (Does10s) and Mike (AZcoupe) collaborating on a turbo kit?
Introducing it in Mustangs & Fords would be a definite Coup for FSPP.
