hello ,
ok i am taking the head to the shop very soon, and i plan on switching it over this spring break. My car has been smoking for a while so when we switch the head we also plan on changing out the piston rings. i have the head and intake and carb. I think i can get the pushrods from auto zone, and i can get the piston rings at auto zone too. I was wondering what was going to be involved in this swap and how long you would think it would take. and while i have the head out and and the pistons out is there any thing that you would suggest to do at this point. I also came across a Gtech pro at a local mustang show here in pensacola, fl. I got it for $20 and it works great, so i would call that a good find. I am hoping on taking the mustang out before and after the swap to see what the diffrence in 1/4 mile times and the hp numbers. I was thinking even if the numbers are off(they are suspose to be pretty accuret) i would see the over all gain. even if the numbers arn't what you would get at the dyno. but if you have any suggestions, or comments to help me with this swap that would be very appreitive!!

Like Mustangaroo said in the post under this one. It is just a basic head swap. Make sure you have the push rods, adjustable rocker arms, temp sender and new head bolts. I think that is it besides all the gaskets: intake, valve cover, head gasket, thermostat, ect...

Also, if you are going to be using the Holley 350 and electric choke kit you will have to move your entire engine over towards the driver's side. The clearance was very tight on mine from the choke to the shock tower. All you have to do is loosen the motor mounts and move the engine over as far as you can then tighten everything up.

I pulled the engine and did the cam, timing set, and head swap all at the same time. Pulling the engine seemed to make it easier but not nesessary.

You might also consider doing the Duraspark II dizzy swap. Maybe get a set of colder plugs if your compression will be raised. I think that is it??
