one question for this engine why are the spark plugs on the opposite side of the intake manifold?

Just a curious question!!

That's Phil Newell again, I think.

The headers will possibly only fit 68 and up Mustangs without modding, but don't take it as gospel.

MB - the plugs are on the other side due to the different design of the combustion chamber and the angles of the valves.

I'm seriously thinking about bidding. What do I need to know? What will it take to get this into my 66' coupe? Somebody mentioned something about the headers possibly not fitting.

If I read it right, the header is not included.

The images are of one of the motors that I have in stock but it may not be THE motor you will get as I take the first one in the line when packing. Your motor will have the head removed to confirm that the bore is standard. The motor is in good used condition and was operating at the time of removal. It is an excellent candidate for rebuilding. No headers. There are no visual cracks. Please note this is a 200ci motor with a steel crossflow head NOT an 250 motor with an alloy crossflow head.

The cast iron head is like this one below. It has:-

no unleaded valve inserts.
The compression ratio varies between the taxi versions regular gas 8.2:1, and the premium fuel 9.2:1 of the high compression version.
Power is about 112 to 114 hp, depending on the year.
It complys with US 1973 emission regulations, as long as it comes with the air cleaner, header and PCV valve.

I've found them to be very, very smooth and can rev well despite the Bendix Stromberg 1-bbl they all came with. An American Carter or, Holley
1-bbl should bolt on with a few modifications.

Net Power is 25 to 30% up on the best American 200 log engines, with much better fuel figures. 30 US miles per gallon at 55 mph was common on the last 3000 pound Falcons that ran this engine.

Engine is about 40 kilos heavier, and comes with a specific to Australia bellhousing bolt pattern. Order the C4 or Top Loader 4-speed bell housing, and it will fit up to most stock Mustangs.

Good catch Mike - I just skimmed the spiel. I've got a set of std cam, rod and mains bearings cheap if anyone here does buy the motor.

There's a few people now seeming to think the iron head is better for extreme forced induction. The alloy head can be retrofitted with minor machining, but the manifolds are all different.

With a standard exhaust manifold, it will fit comfortably in any Mustang engine bay prior the MII. There will even be more room than with a US 250.

Well, you should budget another twice your delivered cost for a quick scrub up and installation. As X mentioned, you need a bellhousing. The US ones won't fit. You'll need a US 250 or SBF radiator. Stuff like a dizzy cap will need to be ordered across unless you go D-II.

Still, get it in now and you can upgrade later with an OHC 4 litre crank and ACL race pistons.
